The beginning
The game of volleyball was first invented in 1895, by William G. Morgan. At this time, though, it was called volleyball, it was called "mintonette". When Morgan created the game, he wanted it to be a combination of handball, basketball, baseball, and tennis. The first net was actually taken from a tennis court, and raised up six feet and six inches, just above the height of an average man. 5 years later, the first specialized ball for the game was created.
